FIRE AND ICELAND

ICELAND…YES, IT’S STILL THE COOLEST TRAVEL DESTINATION, WRITES XAV JUDD.

THE BLUE LAGOON.

IF EVER a country’s location and natural topography made her the ultimate travel destination, it’s Iceland. Adrift in the tempestuous waters between the North Atlantic and Arctic Ocean, Iceland is known as the Land Of Fire And Ice; well-earned as 11 per cent of its surface is covered by glaciers and it contains over 125 active and dormant volcanoes. Such unique features make it possible for visitors to engage in many very cool adventures that simply can’t be found anywhere else. I was lucky enough to try three of them last September.

THE BLUE LAGOON

If you’re in a place that’s cold enough to freeze your balls off (the average September temperature is 7°C), it’s fortuitous that just three-quarters-of-an-hour from the capital, Reykjavik is the Blue Lagoon, with its soothing warm waters.

The Blue Lagoon complex in Grindavik is exactly what you’d expect – modern, reasonably stylish, and clean. It’s necessary to take a full-body shower before entering the spa. Actually, the seawater it contains is run-off from the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power station. If that makes taking a dip seem less attractive, let me assure you that as my friend and I ease our way into the dreamy, milky-aquamarine waters we find the experience ultra-soothing.

Get set to jet set! In our Travel special we check out the gay hot-spots of south-east Asia, get romantic in Morocco, discover that Iceland is still cool and totally chill at the wellness retreat, Kamalaya in Thailand. In other features, we preview the new tele-movie about Mardi Gras called Riot! We meet one of the stars, Xavier Samuel who chats about recreating the historical moment in LGBTIQ history as well as working alongside Brad Pitt and being a vampire in the Twilight saga. And we give you the Cheat’s Guide To The History Of Mardi Gras. You’re welcome! Want better sex? Of course, you do! DNA doctor, Zac Turner tells us how – and it may involve your bottom even if you think you’re a top! Priscilla The Musical is back on the bus and touring Australia through 2018. We caught up with the stars and watched them transform from blokes into glamour queens! You may not recognise Denis O'Hare’s name but you know his face from hit TV shows like American Horror Story, True Blood, Brothers And Sisters, The Good Fight and more. He chats about acting, his husband and his seven-year-old son. Erotic male art doesn't get the credit it deserves so this month we profile Milan-based Korean artist Renzo. His fantasies of naked men and homoerotic sex will make you a true art aficionado. On his Troll Academy Tour of Australia, Milo Yiannopolous looked every bit the rock star – albeit a washed-up has-been relegated to playing the provinces. With his fame on the wane, Andrew M Potts, charts Milo’s rise and fall, and how he built a career peddling hate. Hot boys? Okay! Oleksandre by Timur Mironov graces the cover and four fab pages inside, while we have six pages of hot, hot, hot swimwear starring three Latino lovers inside! Plus our regulars, plus Nathan Black, plus A Moment In The Reeds. Download now!
