Deborah Watling, who played Victoria Waterfield in the 1960s, has died of lung cancer, aged 69.
Deborah was just 19 years old when she was cast as Victoria and although she only appeared in Doctor Who for a year, she starred some of the series’ most memorable adventures including The Evil of the Daleks (1967), The Tomb of the Cybermen (1967), The Web of Fear (1968) and Fury from the Deep (1968). Two of Deborah’s stories – The Abominable Snowman (1967) and The Web of Fear – featured her real-life father, actor Jack Watling.
Although primarily a stage actress, Debbie also appeared opposite Cliff Richard in the 1973 film Take Me High and played Norma in the 1979 TV series Danger UXB.
