Puffin Books has announced an all-female Doctor Who short story anthology: The Day She Saved the Doctor. The book includes four new adventures featuring companions Rose Tyler, Sarah Jane Smith, Clara Oswald and Bill Potts.
The stories are written by Jenny Colgan, Jacqueline Rayner, Dorothy Koomson and 2017 Strictly Come Dancing contestant Susan Calman. Following her elimination from Strictly, Susan tweeted: “Now I’ve been on Strictly this is the one burning ambition I have left. To be the Doctor. Or be in Doctor Who. Or, to be honest, just be allowed anywhere near Doctor Who in any way.” Following the announcement of the book, the comedian tweeted: “So chuffed to have written for this Doctor Who book. Out next March.”
Described by Puffin as ‘a celebration of the Doctor’s fantastic female friends, packed with heroic action and heart for fans of all ages’, the book will be published on International Women’s Day 2018 (8 March), priced £12.99 in hardback or £3.99 as an ebook. It’s available to pre-order now.
