Robot guards stand among the ruins of the planet Desolation in The Ghost Monument (2018).
Funny thing, Doctor Who. People – Doctor Who Magazine included – are always banging on about its ‘infinitely flexible format’ and restless refusal to be constrained by the usual rules of drama. All of which is kinda true. Yet it’s equally striking, no matter how many times you pull the programme apart and rearrange all the pieces, how it always snaps back into something like the same basic shape. And there’s a very good reason for that. It works.
