Dolls House and Miniature Scene Magazine December 2015 (Iss 259) Back Issue

English

There are so many amazing Christmas songs and carols, my particular favourite being Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade, but to tie in with my editorial ramblings and to quote just one line from one song, it’s going to have to be “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” by Andy Williams.

So I’m going to tell you, if you’re looking for inspiring ideas and wanting to add a sprinkling of Christmas magic to your miniature creations, keep reading!

Inspiration begins with a report on the world famous Thorne Rooms in Chicago. Designed and created by Narcissa Niblack Thorne in the 1930s, the collection consists of 68 of the world’s very finest miniature rooms, depicting design from the 16th century, right through to the early 1920s. Lindsay Mican Morgan is the curator, and she explains to Moi Ali, about how each year she decorates each room for Christmas.

For those of you who are looking to be productive and craving Christmas miniatures, look no further as there’s an abundance of projects for you to focus on including Sadie Brown’s polymer clay Christmas turkey. Of course Sadie’s also provided step by step instructions on how to re-create the necessary trimmings. There’s also a choice of three 1/12th scale Christmas wreaths, three novelty Christmas jumpers, plus two projects themed around Ebenezer Scrooge.

May I take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thank you for all of your support in 2015, and
here’s to a prosperous and very productive 2016.
