Ihave often wondered about creating an Art Deco scene and my first thought when I saw this creation by Gene Stow was: “how did he make the chairs?” It turns out that everything you see is some kind of found or discarded object, or stuff that other people have just thrown away.
The rectangular magazine basket holding the display is 11” X 15” x 7” deep. The wallpaper is scrap fabric, suede and leather and the chairs are also covered in the same suede and leather. There are mirror tiles on the back wall, on the back of the bar, and the floor tiles are Formica samples. The light fixtures are clear plastic mirror clips teamed with mini Christmas lights.
The bar is made from round wooden pieces from a child’s toy, the bottles are mostly beads, and the glasses are push pins, drinking straws and jewellery caps. The lamps are medicine bottles and beads.
