Without sounding like the ultimate Instagram cliché, autumn always feels like a time of new starts for me, and I love it. With the kids back in school and the crisper evenings drawing in, there’s the sense of beginning to retreat indoors again, cocooning with mood lighting and candles and giving a new look to our spaces with beautiful fabrics and textures in the bedroom, living areas and bathrooms. Like many of you, my home is still a work in progress but this month the builders are coming back and we may even have a new kitchen by Christmas – hurray! In the meantime, I’ve been embracing the autumn feels with some new accessories; see Changing it Up on page 98. This issue is also about many more ways of refreshing than getting creative with colour, styling and new furniture. When planning a complete revamp you have to start with the bare bones and architecture of your rooms, and one of your most crucial considerations will be the large surface area of your floors. As one of the most hardworking parts of your home, as well as the zone that most people will see when they visit, the flooring you pick for your kitchen and dining spaces is particularly important. So, whether your vision is for poured concrete or you have your sights set on the Scandi blonde wood look, we’ve pulled together the options that we love in Barefoot Luxury (page 105). Meanwhile, fixtures for lighting in bathrooms have moved on hugely and I was astounded with what you can buy now. From elegant wall lights to industrial-look pendants see Under the Spotlight on page 143 and be inspired. When starting any new interiors scheme sometimes it can all feel a little overwhelming, which is why I also really like the feature All Eyes on Me (page 172) in this issue. The idea is to pick one statement thing for your bedroom – be it the bed, wallpaper or even a chest of drawers – and revolve your scheme around that. Give it a try! I know I will be...

Best value interiors mag!

I have been planning my new kitchen and home renovation for quite some time, it seemed to be taking ages to find quality inspiration and I bought so many different magazine trying to get ideas, until I downloaded an issue of EKBB. It was brilliant, there is so much inside and now I've got plans to renovate the whole house! It's real value for money and now I've got a subscription too! Reviewed 19 July 2013
