An accomplished social entrepreneur, a pioneer and advocate of all things impact investing for many years, Robert Rubenstein has been on a mission to change the financial system by shifting the mindset of controlling levers of finance. “To do that I realised I needed to have the support of the business community and they would only do that if they felt enough pain pressure them to change. The pain levers were and are finance, personnel and reputation. I decided to focus on finance to pressure business.”, he says.
A suitably named TBLI Group – an abbreviation for Triple Bottom Line Investment, but also a reference to an accounting framework – was set up in 1998, way before terms such as ESG and impact investing were as current as they are today. The aim? - to create an ecosystem, a platform and a medium to educate investors and asset managers about the risks and opportunities of ESG and impact investing.
