The Museum of London has acquired a silver trencher plate only recently recognised as having belonged to Samuel Pepys.
The plate bears the coat of arms of the famous London naval administrator, member of parliament and 17th century diarist and is one of only three silver pieces known to have belonged to Pepys. It is now the only one on display in the UK.
