It seems apt that the new Honda Fireblade that we've been crying out for over the last half decade has finally emerged ready in time for its 25th birthday. Tadao Baba's gift to the world reinvented sportsbikes in 1992, and while the 2017 Fireblade may not set the world on fire to the same extent as the original, the spec list of the new bike proves that renewed life has been injected into the new machine even if spy shots show the bike's new form isn't amazingly different from before.
We say new machine, but there will be three new Honda Fireblades in 2017, beating Suzuki and Yamaha by a model. Cologne's Intermot show displayed the CBR1000RR SP1, with the standard bike and SP2 due to be unveiled at the Eicma show in Milan next month. The current Fireblade SP showed us that Honda liked this multi-headed attack on the showrooms, offering bikes for a variety of pockets (albeit, most of them deep), but we like the way you can pick and choose your spec levels while dealers must also be licking their lips at the prospect up upselling a bike to the hoards that'll be visiting...
