Howdy FB’ers, how are we all? For me, this will be the last time you hear fromme in these here pages of this fine magazine. I know, I know, wipe away those tears, I’ll probably pop up again but as for the column I’ve had since 2004, this is the last.
It did make me think of all you out there who have followed my journey from a ‘nobody’ privateer in 250GP, to AMA, to world Supersport champion, to fighting for the WSB title three seasons on the bounce – I’ve done a lot in those fourteen years! So let’s have a wee gander at what went on, eh?
When I was first approached by FB to write a regular column for them, I’d just had a few good results on a (very) private Aprilia RS250, including beating Fonsi Nieto (who’d been winning races that season) at one of them to nab a fifth place finish. Boy, did he have the hump about that!
