Straight out of the ‘WTF’ files, comes this latest news from Piaggio about their GITA and KILO innovations. The GITA is an autonomous vehicle which can follow you like a puppy all by itself, and carry up to an 18kg load at speeds up to 35kph.
The KILO, meanwhile, features ‘extraordinary’ stability due to its three wheels, and can carry up to 100kg loads in its 120-litre compartment. These innovations are to apparently increase the operating range of a person’s carrying capacity, but the implications for future development go way beyond that, er, apparently! Imagine being able to do a big shop on your bike, filling up whatever comes after these things, which then can follow you home on its own? We know – weird!
Walking with to the shops with a GITA et al is one thing, and we can only imagine the carnage on pavements if everyone got one, but it does open up interesting options for future touring trips away. So, a barmy idea still in its infancy perhaps, but often successful ideas begin from bonkers schemes like this. Don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon, mind you…
