Fieldsports Journal  |  Fieldsports FebruaryMarch 2014
The first in our new bi-monthly frequency, this is our Stalking Special and has 30 pages dedicated to the exhilarating and traditional sport, both in the UK and further afield.
Feature highlights include a beginner's guide to the world of deer stalking, the importance of shot placement, pursuing huge red stags in New Zealand, trophy hunting in Africa and the legendary chef Michel Roux Jr shares two palate-punching venison recipes.
With the shooting season now over, we reflect on three epic days of driven sport and wonderful hospitality at Arundel, Pennyholme and Drumlanrig. We also see the revival of an educational shoot format, as 20 youngsters attended the 12-20 Club Complete Game Day at Belvoir Castle – the group was split into three, each team enjoying two drives with the pickers-up, two with the beaters and two with a gun. It was a hugely successful day.
In addition to this, we meet the Really Wild Future Face of Fieldsports winner, the country's leading female Shots share sound advice in Part 2 of our Top Ten Hens, we talk to shooting fanatics Rob Fenwick and Julian McHardy, and Vic Harker tests two new 20 bores from Rizzini.
Elsewhere, Matt Harris heads for the crystal-clear waters of the Rio Agua Negra for an angling experience he'll never forget, Lord James Percy considers how to save our songbirds, we go hunting hares with two powerful golden eagles and Marcus Janssen witnesses a gundog masterclass at Glanusk Estate, Wales, with gundog trainer of the year Ben Randall.
An array of diverse content, as ever accompanied by stunning photography.
