Bright Light Bright Light

Wales’ finest export is back - and with a new album in tow, too. We caught up with Bright Light Bright Light - aka Rod Thomas - to talk life on the road with Elton, the role of gay musicians in 2016, and the merits of a good S Club ballad. Naturally.

always look on the BRIGHT side of life

If The Beatles taught us anything – other than too much LSD gives you a bit of a squiffy tummy – it’s that we get by with a little help from our friends. If you take this tried and true ethos, and apply it to radio-friendly unabashed synth-pop, you end up with something like Choreography; the third album from Bright Light Bright Light.

Well, if your friends just so happen to be some of the biggest recording artists in pop and best-known names from Broadway, that is…

Bright Light Bright Light– the stage moniker of Rod Thomas – has roped in the likes of Mykal Kilgore, Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears, Ana Matronic and Del Marquis, Alan Cumming, and a little-known upstart by the name of Sir Elton John to feature on his highly-anticipated new album. Not bad for an independent artist from the suburban Welsh Valleys, eh?
