Devotees of low-carb diet plans are missing out on the benefits of wholegrain carbohydrates. Pulling together results from 19 studies, involving over one million people, Chinese and US researchers discovered people hitting a daily 28g intake of fibre had a 9% lower risk of mortality, a 14% lower risk of cardiovascular mortality and a 3% lower risk of death from cancer.
