Being consistently more physically active can help to slow down cognitive decline and the speed at which brain tissue is lost in those whose brains show signs of developing Alzheimer’s disease – even when they’re symptom free.US researchers measured the number of daily steps taken by almost 200 older adults, then followed up the changes that occurred in their brain over the course of several years. They discovered the beneficial effects were most prominent at around 8,900 steps a day. Yet another good reason to aim for the recommended 10,000 daily.
