HEALTHY PROMOTION

During pregnancy you may have had the most lustrous hair of your life, so it can be a shock when it starts to shed a few months after giving birth. It’s important to remember hair loss is completely normal. Around 17 per cent of women in the UK experience it – and post-pregnancy thinning is a leading cause among younger women. The hair growth has three phases – the growth stage, which lasts three to seven years, a 10-day transitional stage and a three-month resting period, after which the hair sheds. Rising oestrogen levels during pregnancy prolong the growth phase, meaning less hair falls out.
