New Year’s resolutions: out with the old, in with the new. But forget fad diets and cutting out booze, for 2019, ‘cleaner’ beauty is what it’s all about

With the New Year comes the annual opportunity to switch up your lifestyle, upping exercise and swearing off chocolate and alcohol altogether. Too often we fall off the bandwagon by the second week of January. But for 2019, it’s all about changing what you put on your skin instead, with 59 per cent of women over 35 and 73 per cent of 20-35-yearolds seeking out natural-derived products aimed at improving their overall health. Opting for more ‘green’, toxic-free products is an act of self-care, rather than deprivation – meaning it’s more likely that this will be a resolution you actually stick to. Practical and manageable is the key to success, so don’t go throwing out all your trusty favourite cosmetics just yet. ‘Think small changes that have a big impact,’ suggests Jo Chidley, chemist and Beauty Kitchen founder. ‘Start with one or two and build on them.’ So, kick off your 2019 with these clean beauty swaps…
