If at first you don’t succeed…

Whenever another exercise plan went down the pan, I berated myself for my lack of willpower and questioned my ability to achieve my goal. So Hugh Gilmore saying that ‘stalled progress or failure is only feedback’ in ‘Mind games’ (February) was nothing short of a revelation. I’d always viewed setbacks as a failure; something final. His words made me realise my rigid negative reactions aren’t the only way to view a blip – what if this could be information that fuels my exercise journey? I now understand my inability to make an exercise date with myself after work didn’t sit well as I’m a morning person. Exercise with a purpose that I can fit around my routine, such as brisk walking in my lunch hour and weekend HIIT workouts, work well for me. Thank you for an informative and inspiring magazine! Karen, Wirral
