DUNKIRK: UNSUNG HEROES BEHIND THE "MIRACLE"
In 1940, while marching to war in Europe, soldiers like Garth Wright discovered sobering and morbid reminders of those who had come before, in the Great War. What happened next was an immense turning point in world history, and this year’s blockbuster Dunkirk offers a way for people to reconnect with that past and understand its importance for us today. Earlier this year, History of War was invited to Normandy to commemorate the seventy third anniversary of D-Day. Along with acts of remembrance, joining the few remaining veterans able to make the journey, the very region itself is a reminder of history’s lessons, our place within it and our connection to those who came before.
