COMMUNISM
A left-wing revolution began in Russia and changed the course of the 20th century
Throughout the 20th century, left-wing revolutionaries took the political and economic theory of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and made it flesh, overthrowing heads of state and installing Communist governments in their place. In practice, however, the idea of utopia as espoused by the 19th-century writings of those two German thinkers, didn’t necessarily materialise in the real world. Quite often, it was far from being a case of power to the people.
