I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” And yet it’s so easy to be dazzled by a glossy coat, white stockings or a noble-looking head. Over the years, however, I’ve learned not to value a horse based solely on size or conformation, but more according to its heart and spirit. One of my early experiences with this truth started with a leap of faith in the jumper ring.
