Issue Cover

Hungry Eye  |  Hungry Eye - Issue 2 Volume 4

It’s a proud moment for the team at H/E Towers. To be in a position to publish a hitherto unseen portrait of an iconic figure from the British ‘Indie’ scene, is a real privilege and one that has only emerged from a relationship with northern scenester Ant Mulryan. Gracing the cover of this edition is Ant’s stunning portrait of Stone Roses’ Ian Brown. Inside however, you’ll find the story behind the picture and more besides.

Elsewhere in the issue you can expect to catch up with Peter Dench as we continue to serialise his exploits; now officially the longest running feature in the title, having been present in each and every retrospective edition since our launch, some five years prior to this edition.

Interviews include Oscar-winning Italian cinematographer Vittorio Storaro, best known for his work with directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci and Francis Ford Coppala, and we turn our attention to the world of British film funding with long-time dealer-maker, Anil Rai.

We learn of the tribulations endured by the jobbing ‘soundie’ as we hear from Julian Wallinger, who has forged a career by lurking in car parks and caves [amongst other locations] and we hear from the brothers behind, ‘Brother’ Film Co, as they strive to perfect the art of aerial image capture.
All of this and much more, including our Library of recommended photo books and a glance at a touching personal project from photographer, Aidan McCarthy, whose experience at the site of NYC’s Twin Towers and the resulting, arresting images, give a real sense of a moment in time.
