Hello dear friends and welcome to another sparklingly brilliant issue of Infinity, packed with amazing features as usual. As I write these words we’re entering 2023, and what delights will this New Year have in store for us I wonder? Will we finally get those flying cars we were promised in Back to the Future and will the new version of Office improve our outlook? We could all use a bit of artificial intelligence to help us out here but my mate HAL, er, Siri, can’t be relied on.
My late lamented Mum was a bit of a prophet of doom at times and she always cited the 1909 E.M. Forster tale The Machine Stops as a warning of what was in store for us all. If you haven’t read it, or weren’t around in 1909 like me, this cautionary yarn is about what happens when mankind relies on technology, which turns against us and leaves us up the Swanee without a decent paddle.
