Laoch here.

Dad and Blaze are away doing important stuff, and I noticed that it’s the 22nd o’ the month and the Iscot article hasnae been done yet, so to prove I’ve grown up and matured, albeit, at being just a year old, (I dare-say I’m the youngest ever Iscot contributor), I’ve decided tae help and do this months article.

The title of 1-2-1 means 1 hill, 2 dugs and 1 week apart. Dad decided to take us up the Sithean Bhealach Chumhaing which is the final bitty of the Trotternish ridge before it drops down into Portree.

I had tae ask what the name meant as I dinna ken the Gaelic, but it translates roughly tae The Narrow Pass of the Fairies. What I can tell you though, is it offers breath-taking views, and the opportunity tae wind Dad up something cruel.

We started this walk by driving up to, then a bit beyond Torvaig where we parked, as this saves the auld man from having to wheeze and puff his way over the zig-zags of Scorrybreac which is a different way to do this route.

You have to stay as close to the cliff edge overlooking the sea as much as possible, but firstly negotiate a few fields, passing through two gates which are no problem.
