All Souls, No Saints…

Picking through the aftermath of Halloween, and mincing with appalled caution through the discarded footwear, lost (and in some cases, willingly surrendered…) knickers, both feminine and masculine, and the occasional body parts strewn across Sauchiehall Street, it suddenly occurs to me…

This particular ‘holiday’ (or ‘event’, whatever…) hasn’t just been embraced or adopted by adults, but has instead been whacked over the head, rolled up in an old rug and pressed into service as an excuse for us to go back to our Pagan roots with no small measure of reckless abandon. And going by the sartorial detritus forming interesting piles in strange places, the local clothes recycling emporia, and the NHS clinics on the front line of chlamydial defence, will all be enjoying a marked upswing in their footfall in the coming days…
