Take care to remove the roots of any perennial weeds prior to planting. On new or weedy sites it is worth covering the bed for a year with soil-covering fabric to ensure a weed-free patch for planting.

Asparagus used to be the preserve of high-class restaurants, but is now much more widely available and has become a popular pickyour- own crop.The result is that more people than ever are enjoying the distinctive delights of spring fresh asparagus spears. Yet it can still be expensive to buy and by supplying the plants with just a few simple needs you’ll soon be growing your own.
