I am so glad you brought this up. Don’t worry – you aren’t going crazy. You are absolutely correct. This is actually quite a complicated question. These groups of words are called homophones. They have the same sound / pronunciation, but a different spelling and a different meaning. An example of words that share the same pronunciation but differ in meaning is “hole” and “whole”. So, what’s the difference?
