Alex Gowans celebrated 70 years as an elder of the Church of Scotland in November last year. He was ordained in 1946 in Queens Cross Church, moving to St James Church Pollok; and after marriage to Sheila he joined Cathcart South (now Trinity) church. In the past he led the Sunday School and had a very successful junior choir; and he is still heavily involved, attending church twice every Sunday. He is pictured with Cathcart Trinity minister, the Rev Alasdair MacMillan.
