The Ultimate Margin Mix

Posted Wednesday, April 1, 2015   |   1249 views   |   Sport   |   Comments (0) Alex Bones has been cutting Old Ghost Specimen Carp with other mixes, but reckons this particle-heavy groundbait could be just as impressive neat.

As far as margin fi shing groundbaits go, Old Ghost’s unique, very coarse, Specimen Carp mix is right up there with the best of them. It’s the  large particles that make it  so effective because it offers something altogether different from your usual ‘out of the bag’ groundbait.

However, I must admit that I have rarely used it in a neat form, preferring to mix it with fishmeal-based groundbaits, but that’s something I think I’ll look to change because it’s a super mix in its own right. What it offers is absolutely perfect for margin carping.

It’s probably the easiest groundbait in history to mix and requires no riddling whatsoever. It will take on quite a bit of water, so you do end up with a large amount of usable bait. However, I think that the key to the mix is purely the size of the particles and the variety of particle colours.

It can be used for any application for carp (and maybe even bream too), be it pole or feeder, so it’s ultra-versatile and the aroma, once mixed, is distinctly unique. It’s not as strong smelling as the company’s Green Alga mix, for example, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. All in all it’s a fantastic groundbait made from water snails, not fishmeal, that is well worth a try if you haven’t already given it a whirl!
