Christmas Gifts for Kids

Posted Monday, November 13, 2017   |   229 views   |   Family & Home   |   Comments (0) Treat the smallest (and loudest) members of the family to something fun this festive season! We've rounded up our favourite gifts for kids to help you (oops, we mean Santa) out - just call us the Pocketmags elves!

1. For little pranksters, The Beano Comic digital magazine subscription, £39.99 is the obvious choice! Filled with classic comics featuring all their favourite Beano characters and jokes aplenty, each issue is a total giggle-fest. Don’t forget; a digital subscription is a great way to get them reading (instead of playing games or watching TV) on the tablet…!

2. Twit-twoo is this for? A warm wooly hat is a useful but totally gorgeous gift for the colder months. Ideal for smaller members of the family, we love this John Lewis Baby Owl Character Hat, £8 for a cute stocking filler to warm hearts and heads. Perfect for snowman building, snowball fights and wintry walks!

3. For the family that has everything! A traditional classic for both young and old, The Jungle Book (Illustrated Special Edition), £20 by Rudyard Kipling is a wonderful collection of fables set in the Indian jungle. This newly released copy is beautifully illustrated by award-winning design studio MinaLima, making it a timeless gift to be enjoyed and passed down for years to come. You might just want a copy for yourself…

4. For budding witches and wizards, how about giving their tree a touch of wizarding magic this Christmas? We love this Hogwarts Crest™ Metal Ornament, £14.95 – little ones will love hanging it in pride of place for all to see. Starting a collection or choosing a side? You can pick ornaments according to your Hogwarts house too (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw). Only the sorting hat will decide!

5. Grizzly and gruesome, a Horrible Histories digital magazine subscription, £14.99 is the ideal read for young history lovers who tend to enjoy the more gory of stories! Filled with fun facts and fearsome features, each issue of Horrible Histories covers different areas throughout history, from Vikings to Victorians. Expect to learn lots – just don’t save it for bedtime reading…

6. Drag them away from the TV – why not make this Christmas screen-free (even if it’s only for a few hours)? There’s nothing more fun than a group project, so make it something you can all enjoy with Lego! The LEGO Creator 10249 Winter Toy Shop, £64.99 is not only lovely to look at when it’s complete, but it’s got plenty of parts for all members of the family to get stuck into, beginners included. That means you Nan!

7. Glasses on, it’s time to take a closer look! A Discovery – Microscope, £22 brings hours of fun. Suitable for ages 8 , this 40 piece set contains a magnification microscope (with a handy light to make viewing easier). You can magnify your chosen subject 50/100/150x - try a slice of bread or a leaf or two! Just don’t do it with the next spider lurking in the bathroom (unless you want to lose sleep).
