First, he said he would, then he wouldn’t. But now Elon Musk is finally set to buy Twitter. The price is yet to be agreed before any more disagreements—$44 billion, or $54.20 per share. Musk has been vocal about his reasons for buying the social media platform, saying he wants to protect free speech.
The deal was announced days before it was due to go to court and follows acrimonious statements over active users on all sides. Musk highlighted the number of dodgy accounts—recent analysis shows that 19.42 percent of all accounts are spurious. We’ll wait for the deal to go through before we believe it, however. Musk is an impulsive man. –CL
