There’s no denying that the Skylake architecture was a fantastic step in the right direction for Intel, so iterating on that was a solid strategy, but that was back in 2016, and dithering around trying to get 10nm functional just hasn’t been worth it in the long run. I get it, lithographs are seriously expensive, so getting every last cent out of that old one was important, but is it worth losing that performance crown? Losing that market share? It feels like a mistake.
