MICROSOFT’S FLAGSHIP Surface Pro tablet has reached version nine, offering laptop performance with the flexibility of a tablet, the company claims. The biggest change is the inclusion of ARM-powered varients, with the Intel and ARM versions being folded into one product line. At first glance, it looks similar to version 8, with the same 13-inch PixelSense screen with a resolution of 2,880x1,920 pixels, minimal bezel, and built-in adjustable kick-stand.
Prices start at $1,000. For this, you get a 12th-generation Intel Core i5-1235U CPU with 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of solidstate storage, available in platinum color. There are six further Intel versions, with different processor, memory, and storage configurations. The top model ($2,600) sports a Core i7-1255U, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD. These models are also available in sapphire, forest, and graphite colors.
The cheapest ARM version is $1,300. This uses a Microsoft SQ3 processor, which is an overclocked eight-core Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Three further ARM models top out at 16GB of memory, and 512GB of storage ($1,900). The Intel systems are Wi-Fi, while ARM ones get 5G too. Ports are either two Thunderbolt 4 for the Intel models or two USB-C for ARM ones. There’s an optional keyboard ($180) and stylus ($130), or both for $280. The Surface Pro 9 weighs 1.95lbs (883g), and measures 11x8in.
