Intel’s latest Core i5 ‘K’ series chip is an all-round killer.
SO, YOU’VE READ ALL about the mighty Intel Core i9-13900K. Realistically, that’s a $600 CPU and not one that most of us are likely to be buying any time soon. However, the new Core i5-13600K is a different ballgame. This chip comes in at $330 and, without giving away too much too soon, it’s stellar value.
As with its bigger Core i9 brother, the big news is the doubling of efficiency core count over its direct predecessor, in this case, the 12600K, and a jump from four to eight so-called E cores. When Intel first announced its hybrid architecture with the 12th-generation Alder Lake CPUs, not everyone was convinced. Some argued that they would rather have as many high-performance cores as possible, and the efficiency cores could go hang.
