Find anything with Everything
YOU’LL NEED THIS THE EVERYTHING APP voidtools.com, free
1DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING To get started, head to voidtools.com. On the home page you’ll see several options for downloading Ever ything—the standard 64-bit installer should be fine, unless you par ticularly need the 32-bit, zipped or lite editions. At the time of writing, we used version 1.4.1.1024, but you should just use the latest version available when you go to install it.
2FIND AND MOVE FILES When you first open Ever ything, it will take a moment to build its file list, so give it a minute or two. You’ll know it’s finished because it’ll display a list of files and folders in the app’s main window, sorted alphabetically by default.
» Try typing something in the search box at the top of the app. You’ll notice that Ever ything starts narrowing down its results instantly, and ever y additional letter you type refines the results further. There’s no need to press Enter or click a button to bring up your search results, as they populate right away. [Image A]
» Once you’ve got your search results, you can interact with them in much the same way as you would a folder in File Explorer. That means you can right-click a file or folder and get the standard Windows context menu options, or drag it right out of Ever ything into a File Explorer pane to change its location. Alternatively, click a result in Ever ything, then click Edit > Copy to Folder or Edit > Move to Folder to shift it somewhere else.
