At time of writing, gyms in the UK remain out of bounds and the home-workout bandwagon rolls on – only now you can get a short back and sides before your 10,000th set of press-ups. By now, though, hopefully working out from home is a less bewildering prospect than it was a few months ago. Personally, while my paltry pair of dumbbells and newly purchased resistance bands don’t offer the same variety as my local gym, I’ve fully come round to the time- and cost-saving benefits of front-room fitness – not to mention the chance to focus on areas long neglected in favour of the same old weights-room habits.
However, as something almost, almost like normal begins to creep back in, this issue is about shifting some of the focus away from the home. You’ll still find bodyweight and minimal-equipment workouts, but as restrictions ease it feels possible, finally, to plan further ahead than the banana bread you’re baking this weekend.
