A Filipino mental health nurse has made history by becoming the first person from his country to be appointed as an executive chief director in the NHS.
Oliver Soriano (pictured), who is also a registered adult nurse, took over the chief nurse and quality officer role at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust in October.
Originally from the Philippines, Oliver has an extensive portfolio of experience including working in mental health and acute trusts. He has held roles including associate chief nursing officer, head of nursing – psychological medicine and older adults, general manager – specialist services, matron – older adults, advanced clinical practitioner and mental health liaison nurse.
