Three new figure sets received for review offer a wide and very eclectic choice of subjects – ranging from the core 1/35 military figures to a set in 1/24 as far removed from the Eastern Front or Iraq as one could imagine. Under Fire: Modern US Infantry (ref. 35193) consists of four figures which combine to form an integrated group of figures in the heat of combat, ideally in the process of returning fire from behind a wall or revetment with one standing shooting and the other three taking cover, one appearing to be offering assistance to another wounded man. The set consists of a single sprue with instructions provided on the back of the box. Construction looks straightforward and each figure is provided with separate weapons and items of equipment. Rifle slings will need to be sourced but otherwise the figures are nicely detailed and everything is very sharply cast.

The hugely enjoyable ‘Indian Wars Series’ continues with On the Great Plains (ref. 35189), a nice threefigure vignette showing two figures, one mounted female, one standing male, and a pony harnessed to a litter, the scene presumably being one of upheaval – refugees on the move perhaps? Again detail is exquisite and the set offers superb scope for detail painting.
