Mini World  |  No.266 Rust Bucket Resurrection
We are now well into the Mini show season. Brooklands Mini Day was a
fantastic event, as always, and it was a nice chance to catch up with readers, many of whom I'd not seen since the MiniWorld Action Day in September. The Moke Club put on a display of vehicles that made me a bit jealous – it would be so cool to have a Moke to buzz around in for the summer! I recall a trip to Magnetic Island, Australia, in 2004 when I hired a Moke to get about – such fun! It's the 50th anniversary of the
launch of the Moke so we have planned some features for Moke fans, including the fab one pictured above, owned by Dave McLeod. It has a Barton Hardtop which was not easy to restore but Dave has made a fab job of it and has even picked up prizes at Mini shows! Also inside this issue there is a K-series-powered Mini HL, a beautiful Innocenti Cooper Export, which won the prestigious Beaulieu Cup last year, and a lovely modified Mk1. As more and more Minis are restored to original spec, the 848cc Mini engine is becoming sought after and is now being rebuilt rather than scrapped. Tim Mundy has written a guide to these engines on pages 48-53. There's also our guide to the 2014 MiniWorld Riviera Run on page 66. If you are a regular on this event be sure to check out the guide as there are a number of changes for this year. We look forward to seeing you in Newquay! One of my favourite features in this issue is the Road Trip on pages 94-98. Peter Moskovitz came to England in 1965, after graduating from college in America, and got caught up in the swinging
London life before buying a Mini Cooper and embarking on an epic journey through France, Greece, Albania, Italy... Be sure to check it out!
I hope you enjoy the issue.
