Mortons Books

Lambretta Myths and Legends Ever since the start of Lambretta production, stories have circulated around many aspects of what is one of the world’s most famous scooter brands ever. Anything from how each model was designed and built to how it was promoted to the public, leaving a trail of intrigue and mystery. Theories have built up among enthusiasts as to what happened at the factory in Milan and why, but it goes a lot further afield than that. The characters behind the Lambretta and those who promoted it all helped to create an even more incredible story. More than 50 years have passed since the last one rolled o the production line and many of the tales persist. The problem is, as time marches on, they become ever more exaggerated and embellished in their retelling. This has resulted in much confusion, obscuring the truth from those who attempt to find out what really happened. Like any period in history, if you look hard enough, the facts are there no matter how deeply they might be hidden, and the Lambretta story has many of them. This book aims to dispel some of those myths and reveal the truth about what actually occurred. Many stories can be explained by those who made them happen or by genuine documents that reveal the truth. Some tales and rumours are still unexplained, but hopefully this publication will jog the memories of those who can help solve the remaining Lambretta myths and legends.
