The star collapsed in his Paisley Park recording studio and complex on April 21, but the news is still hard to accept, days and even weeks later. We couldn’t believe Prince had died, because our collective cultural conception of Prince required us to believe that he couldn’t die. The icon seemed ageless and invincible. When you saw him floating in that misty bathtub in the “When Doves Cry” video, you wondered what planet he had arrived from, not whether he might catch a cold.
