Skopje, Macedonia— About 200 protesters broke through police lines and stormed the Balkan country’s parliament on April 27 in a demonstration over demands from ethnic Albanians that Albanian be recognized as a second language. Violence erupted after the parliament elected an ethnic Albanian as speaker. Police fired stun grenades, and some nationalist protesters beat a lawmaker.
