On August 1, people observe (and record) a man allegedly shot by soldiers amid protests over accusations of fraud in the country’s election. The military opened fire on stone-throwing demonstrators, who accused the ruling party, ZANU-PF, of vote-rigging. It was a bloody setback for the new president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who had promised Democratic reforms after 37 years of brutal rule under Robert Mugabe.
