BANGLADESH
Dhaka, Bangladesh— Pedestrians cross a bridge as smoke rises from a burning garbage dump on June 11. The Bangladeshi capital has long struggled with its abundance of trash—and the foul smell it produces. The city installed tens of thousands of new garbage cans on sidewalks, in public parks and elsewhere, but the trash just keeps piling up. And no one seems to have a sustainable way to get rid of it.
