IRAQ
Mosul, Iraq— Iraqi forces have almost driven the Islamic State militant group out of this city, but as the two sides engage in their final battle for its oldest quarter, civilians continue to suffer. Cousins Zeid and Hodayfa Ali know this all too well. On June 24, their home was struck during the fighting and collapsed while some family members were still inside. Iraq has allowed hundreds of civilians to flee Mosul as ISIS makes its last stand. But tens of thousands remain trapped inside, many without food or water, and pray for the guns to go silent.
