Argyll and Bute MP Brendan O’Hara visited Oban fire station on Friday to see new heavy-duty cutting gear that has been delivered. The station is also now awaiting delivery of a boat as all of the firefighters have been trained in water safety. It is hoped the new equipment will allow the Oban firefighters to respond much more quickly to incidents such as the heavy goods crash at Connel and the tragedy last year that resulted in the deaths of two toddlers near Kilmelford instead of waiting for equipment to come from Glasgow or elsewhere.
