THE highest ever wave has been recorded at 19m (62.3ft) by a buoy between the UK and Iceland, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has reported.
The giant wave was measured on February 4, 2013, following the passage of a very strong cold front producing winds up to
43.8 knots (50.4mph), and beat the previous record of 18.275 meters (59.96 feet) measured on December 8, 2007, also in the North Atlantic.
