NEW signal-boosting technology could be a ‘game-changer’ for remote and rural locations, according to NHS Highland.
The health board is testing the technology that improves mobile phone and wifi signals across the Highlands, which ‘could lead to the introduction of quicker, more responsive and sustainable health care services’.
NHS Highland has been testing the system, referred to as the ‘omni-hub’, since last month to see if it can provide ‘secure, resilient, high-quality and cost-effective communication’ in areas considered to have low or, in some cases, almost nonexistent coverage.
