A 73-YEAR-OLD woman was more than three times over the drink-drive limit when she was stopped by police on her way home from visiting her husband in hospital at Oban.
The anxiety and strain of caring for him were reasons given why Alexandra McPhee, of Stronsaule, Old Shore Road, Connel, had been drinking in the hospital grounds while visiting him, Sheriff Ruth Anderson was told at the town’s sheriff court last week.
McPhee admitted the offence. When stopped by police on May 2 on Soroba Road in Oban, she found it difficult to take the test but later at the station was able to give a specimen of breath. The result was a reading of 68 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath; the limit is 22.
